Shalom!

Ruach (spirit) is high, new kids are settling in, and everyone is loving the new Seder Yom. The Shaliach has awarded several chultzot shel hayom (shirt of the day) to some lucky ivrit experts. This is a fun way for chanichim to add words to their vocabulary - Elay introduces a word in the morning, and chanichim need to use it creative ways throughout the day. At the end of the day, a shirt with the new Hebrew word is given to one of the chanichim.

The last two tochniot erev have been memorable experiences for everyone here. Last night we celebrated the 4th of July with an American Dream carnival. The activity was fun and merry but also took into account the limitations of the American Dream. The night ended on a reflective note, with all chanichim sharing their dreams around the campfire.

Tonight we had “Midnight in Paris, the Tochnit Erev”! Inspired by the Woody Allen movie, the activity was an extended, interactive history lesson in which the kids learned to see iconic cultural figures (Picasso, Shakespeare, Huckleberry Finn) as real people.

Our sports groups have been taking it seriously, and football, ultimate frisbee, workout, yoga and Zumba are going strong.
