First days activities

First days at camp are full of action. On day one, at the bus stops and at camp as buses pulled in, hugs were aplenty as campers reconnected, and madatz (counselors in training) and madrichim (counselors) gave a hand to chanichim (campers) as they found their cabins, brought their luggage, and settled in.
We went through the necessary safety drills, health checks, swim tests and archery and kayaking safety training, as well as met with our kvutzot (age groups) and talked about creating community and a safe space for all to enjoy, work and play together at.

In the afternoon we were introduced to the chugim (activities by choice) options. Madrichim put on skits to present the chug they are running, and chanichim chose which one they'll participate in.

Chotrim Cheer!

And Shomrim getting into the groove.

On the second day, Summer 2013 hatzaga debuted. The Hatzaga is the ongoing skit tied to the summer's educational theme. This year, in the "The Hills of Lel", 3 young characters; apathetic Hippo, mean Pirate and Jack will explore how they came to be, why they act the way they do, and will attempt to figure out how to become better people.

The new gaga pit in action!

And first day at the pool! Sayalim after their swim test.

Chug Hisardut (Survivor) - learning to tie knots.

And Chug Messy Fun had some syrup and woodchips facemasks action.

Sayalim (our youngest kvutza) initiated our new archery range. After safety training on the first day, they learned about the archery range, the protective gear and parts of the bow and arrow, practiced proper form and got to shoot their first arrows.
