Shabbat Blogging - The Chotrimot (7th graders)

Today is Shabbat so today has some different activities. The activities that we do on Friday are: Shabbat rotations and Zman Kehilla (community time). Some Shabbat rotations are writing the blog, prayers, songs and challah baking.  I have been at camp longer than most kids because I am staying second session extended. So I have been at camp for 1.5 weeks.. My kvutsa wrote a cheer to "Your're Welcome" from Moana. When kids first got off the bus I saw a lot of my friends. Any way, I can't wait for the rest of camp!

Hello blog readers (and hi, mother!)

Everyone is having fun. We do something called Avodah. Avodah is work in Hebrew, and we help camp Gilboa with it. One of the Avodot we do is Briut and we lean the Sherutim. Sherutim is the bathroom. It sounds very weird, but it's actually very fun. In fact, all the avodot are fun.
For chugim (electives), I chose Musicals. We are working on choosing a song and we'll report back once we do. That's all we've got for you today, folks!

 - Lia Rubin

At camp everyone is in a group called Chugim. This session our chugim are Musicals, Satire News, Pranksters, Womyn, Da Bounce, Spratz, and Hiking. So far, the Pranksters have pied Ari in the face and Hiking went on a hike (duh...). Satire News is making a newspaper called the Jewyork Time, and Musicals might write a song and sing it. Sprats are playing sports!

Dear Blog,

There are many different Chugim. These are interest groups (or electives) such as Hiking, Spratz, Pranksters, Musicals, Satire News, Womyn, Da Bounce. I'm in Musicals and we might sing a song at Musicale (Musicale is our performances on Shabbat). We learn in a fun  way and have fun here all the time.

Dear Blog,

This is Noa speaking. I am going to tell you about our awesome Hatzagah (play). We have a different Hatzagah every session. This session, Hatzagah in about Channel 5 News (the "ch" in channel is pronounced like the "ch" in challah). They make fun of really unimportant news like if there was a spill in the Mitbach (kitchen), some satire weather forecasts and in general they are really funny. And that has been the Hatzagah report brought to you by Noa Marks.

Dear Gilboa Blog Readers. This is Tamar and I'm about to tell you a tale about frogs. Enjoy.

Late at night, as we were walking back from our night activity, Eliza (our madricha - counselor) and I started singing the Little Green Frog song. After a while I stopped in my tracks. Because under my flashlight's light, I saw a big green frog. It had brown bumps on it and it was hopping across the path. "Look! It's a frog!" I said slightly surprised. It was almost  as if the frog song had lured out frogs, because a second later we spotted another frog - a smaller one this time, about the size of a small pine cone.

Then I remembered a line from the song because Eliza almost stepped on it: "And the little frog went mm-splat-mm-splat-mm-splat-splat." And then I remembered that Sid (our madrich - counselor) said that when he stepped on a frog (accidentally) it went crunch.

Thank you for reading :)

I'll be writing about intersession. In between first and second sessions, I had a lot of fun. There were fewer chanichimot and it was run by the madatz. There were very good meals, like fancy sandwiches and sushi. We also got to eat a lot of candy. We had lots of chofesh (free time) and it was all very relaxed. We all missed our first session kvtuzot (age groups) a lot, but we were also looking forward to second session coming.

One thing we have here at camp is Epep (evening program after evening program, which is usually with our kvutza - age groups). Last night we took a walk down to the lake. It was really dark and we turned off all our flashlights and looked at the stars. We also got to know each other better by talking about things such as memories, what we do for fun and more. It was very beautiful and we all got to know each other better.

Dear Blog,

Avodah (work) is important and Noy (outdoors improvement) is awesome! We clear paths, move rocks and play pine cone baseball. We make sure no one trips!
