Shabbat Blogging - Amelimot

Here is a summary of last week from Amelimot (4th and 5th graders):

Archery
Pull back, release, and watch your arrow fly. This is archery. Missed your target, try again. Hit the target. Nice job. My opinion - love archery. It's my favorite thing at camp.

Shabbat
On Shabbat we have a great time! The food is really good at our dinner. First, we have chicken. It tastes delicious just like everything else. As our vegetable we have brussels sprouts. Also, we have yummy matzah ball soup. In addition, we have rice. Next, we have tofu. Last, we have scrumptious soda. Thank you, Mitbach (kitchen) for the great Shabbat dinner.

Musical
For musical the whole camp gets together at a big fire-pit and amphitheater. We all sit around the fire and watch other people perform (you have a choice to perform or not). It's really fun to sit around and share our talents. Last week, Tohar played "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles.

The Lake

Hi, my name is Leah Keri and I'm going to tell you about the beautiful lake at Camp Gilboa. Camp Gilboa has many awesome features but I think the lake is the best one. The lake is good for kayaking, seeing ducks, ducklings and frogs and experiencing things that you might have never done before. The sad thing is that, if the Nature Conservancy didn't buy the lake, it would be all condos that people live in (we learned that in PISH about the environment).

When you're kayaking, you might see ducks and ducklings and they are super cute. They swim in a line and you can get really close to them before they swim away. The ducks also live on a little island in the middle of the lake and you can see their eggs.

The lake is kind of green, but it looks really cool. Also, we pay attention more because we don't want to flip over and get all wet. On top of the water are hundreds of really pretty  blue dragonflies that are as big  as half your finger. In conclusion, the lake at Gilboa is very beautiful and you should see it if you can.

Kupa Trip
On Wednesday of the second week of camp, we had our kupa trip. For the trip, our kvutza decided how to use our kupa money, and which field trip to go to. We decided and went on a really fun laser tagging place near Camp Gilboa. To get there, we took turns riding in a search and rescue jeep that holds ten people.

Once we got to the laser tagging place, we found a bunch of tokens on the ground. In one of the corners of the room there was a ticket machine. We used the ticket machine to change a little bit of our tokens into a lot of tickets. We used the tickets to buy toys or candy from the little booth.

After that, we all went to an ice cream restaurant. The restaurant had a lot of other things besides ice cream. They had really good chocolates that looked delicious. The restaurant  had so many different  ice cream flavors, that it was hard to choose!

Camp Gilboa is such a GREAT camp!

Tiyul (Hike)
Hello Camp Blog. The hike that we went on was great. I love the view that we got to see, even though we had to walk uphill for a little bit. We had fun sleeping on a tarp. Looking up at the stars was amazing. Waking up and walking back to camp was quite short, but it was nice getting back to camp. Being my first year, I loved it.

Conscience Play
Two nights ago we watched the conscience play where counselors dressed up and acted out scenes about when Jewish people were treated unfairly. We learned about the holocaust and how Hitler started World War II. We also learned about an experiment where a doctor tells a person to ask someone questions and they get it wrong, they get shocked. But at the end we found out that it was fake, and just testing how people are easy to do bad things.

Sports
My name is Sam A. I'm in Amelimot. My experience with sports is in the activities that change every day and you get to choose. My favorite is Gaga. Once we played a game called Infection. One person is infected  and they tag others. Nobody except the person who's infected knows who's infected. Once you are infected, you tag others! I rate sports 8-10 :)

Toranut
Toranut is fun because you get to eat early. But then you have to clean your own dishes it's not that gross because it's your plate. After: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, you have to clean 140 or more dishes. Crazy, right? I wanted to be on Toranut Boker. Oscar, Shane, Ella, Idan and Sheera are on the job. The best thing about Toranut is... Having fun.
